Abstract
Fostering material innovation and, in turn, being propelled forward by it, material failure is a central focus for mechanicians today, particularly given the emergence of new developments in material design. This mini-symposium is dedicated to the discussion on innovative analytical and numerical modelling strategies and techniques related to failure mechanisms in solids, with emphasis on fracture mechanics-based, nonlocal, phase-field and multi-scale approaches.
